Actress Halle Berry founded Respin, a digital health and wellness platform dedicated to supporting women through their menopause and midlife journeys. After her own experiences with perimenopause, Berry created Respin as a tool to break down stigmas and offer expert-led communities, science-backed solutions, and personalized health plans.

“We’re building what I wish I’d had: a resource for women in the midst of menopause, on the cusp of it, or preparing for it.”

Inside Respin’s Ecosystem

Respin has emerged as a notable case study in the growing Femtech sector. Rather than positioning itself as a single product with all the answers to menopause-related questions, Respin distinguishes itself as a comprehensive ecosystem that fosters community and understanding. The platform invites readers to explore topics that can enhance a woman’s understanding of her midlife experience — subjects like HRT, vaginal atrophy, and hormonal deficiencies.

“Women can’t wait any longer. The spark has been lit, and it’s time for a revolution in menopause and midlife health.”

At the next stage, Respin offers a foundational membership for $15 a month that includes a private community of peers, expert-led educational events, live Q&As with menopause specialists, curated content, and early access to health and wellness products. The premium tier expands into four integrated pillars: community, curated content, direct clinical care, and a coaching service called Respin Health. This tier builds personalized care plans using more than 150 individual health data points, pairing members with coaches and clinicians for ongoing support — a model Berry has likened to the accountability structures that made Weight Watchers successful. An early pilot reported encouraging results: 90% of participants experienced some symptom improvement, and nearly two-thirds reported clinically significant progress within eight weeks.

Halle Berry Fighting The Gap

A 2023 study found that less than 1% of scientific studies on aging even look at menopause. Most recent research also ignores the lasting effects that pregnancy, birth, and breastfeeding can have on a woman’s body long term. That’s why digital, education-focused platforms like Respin are so essential.

What Respin Reveals About The Future of Women’s Health Tech

Respin’s mission offers a window into something much larger. Overall, Femtech is becoming one of the fastest-growing corners of the wellness economy. The term refers to technology specifically designed and tailored to women’s health — digital health solutions, wearables, apps, and medical devices, all aimed at improving reproductive health, maternal care, menopause care, and overall wellness.

Research values the global FemTech industry at $52 billion in 2023, with projections reaching $117 billion by 2029. Interestingly, usage data reveals FemTech’s impact: women using cycle-tracking apps report meaningful gains in understanding their own bodies, including better awareness of cycle regularity and reduced symptom severity. These products enable women from all backgrounds to take charge of their bodies and health.

For instance, massive racial disparities exist in pregnancy-related deaths — statistics show that Black women are more likely to die during pregnancy than white women. FemTech products can help mitigate discrimination stemming from human bias and social structures by providing unbiased care at home.

Understanding The Booming Industry

While women-oriented technologies and digital platforms like Respin are clearly needed today, the industry’s growth cannot outpace its regulatory frameworks. Safe and responsible use of Femtech must always be a priority, especially regarding healthcare data. Clear privacy policies, data opt-out features, and mandatory user education on data security can help increase consumer trust and propel femtech in the right direction.

Femtech stakeholders must also consider artificial intelligence’s growing role in the industry. Research suggests AI technologies within Femtech can craft personalized treatment regimens for women with chronic conditions such as endometriosis and PCOS, integrating large-scale health data to design tailored treatment plans.

Questions about Respin and Femtech

Halle Berry changes our perspective on health and menopause by giving it a “respin.” The pilot data on her website highlights that the platform is helping real people. However, we must still question the broader issues surrounding Femtech and digital wellness platforms.

As personalized women’s healthcare rapidly expands as an industry, who actually gets access to it? Only women who can afford them can use subscription platforms and wearable health devices. Will the same technology that promises to close the gender health gap simultaneously deepen the economic divide?

Digital health platforms and femtech solutions like Respin can help women understand their bodies better. Whether these industries can reach the women who need them most remains an open question.
