At 55 years old, Halle Berry is an absolute legend. Whether it’s being mentioned in every rap song, or being photographed on the red carpet, it’s clear that there’s just something about Berry. Her latest endeavor sees her making her directorial debut about a disgraced MMA fighter in Brusied.

Now, while the titular character was originally written for a younger woman, the Oscar winner managed to land the role, proving once again that age is nothing but a number when it comes to talent.

Β β€œWhen I first started acting, aging was like the most horrifying thing you could think of. Life was over at 35 or 40. Then you had to wait until you got super old, when you could play the grandma. This town is unforgiving. It’s changing, though.”

Speaking to Women’s Health, the Boomerang actress revealed how empowering it was to work on the film, adding β€œto be the age I am and push my body to its limits reminded me that age is just a number. We can control how we define ourselves, and I’ve never been healthier and felt stronger. This movie helped me realize that.”

Now, while Berry doesn’t spend her time in the octagon in everyday life, it would be hard to miss just how incredible the actress looks and this then raises one question – Just how does she stay so fit and healthy when she’s not throwing punches?

Halle Berry’s Health Tips

Train like a fighter

If you spend 5 seconds on Berry’s Instagram page, you’ll definitely come across images of her intense exercise regime.

For Berry, her exercise routine consists of exercising six days a week with her longtime trainer Peter Lee Thomas and resting on Sunday.

As for what exercises she does?

According to Women’s Health, Berry keeps fit by doing jumps with weighted balls, sprawls, and Turkish get-ups.

For core strength, the Strictly Business star revealed that she does situps and crunches – while hanging upside down. According to Berry, having two children made her stomach skin much looser so β€œonly something severe even puts a dent in my abs,” as such, she’s had to β€œfill that area with muscle.”

Additionally, when she doesn’t have the motivation to sweat, Berry reminds herself that exercising is the key to a longer life, and being a grandparent does sound incredibly rewarding,

β€œIt’s not easy, but I always remind myself why I’m doing it. Since I had [kids] a little later in life, I want to be here for them. I want to live as long as I can and see my grandbabies.”

Listen to your body

Now while the actress who played Storm in the X-men movies is an exercise fiend, that doesn’t mean she doesn’t know when to take it easy.

She revealed to Women’s Health that she doesn’t really have a set workout routine so instead, she does a daily body assessment to find out which exercises her body will appreciate. For instance, if her back feels sore, then she’ll do some back-relieving exercises like Pilates, or yoga.

Eat like a champion

Around 422 million people in the world have diabetes, and Halle Berry is one of them. One of the best ways to manage this condition is through diet, so Berry makes sure to stickΒ to a low-carb, meat-based diet.

Her diet consists of lamb chop, leafy green vegetables, and homemade cauliflower rice. It should be noted that Berry is a fan of intermittent fasting, so she won’t eat after 6 p.m.

Try acupuncture

Acupuncture is an ancient component of traditional Chinese medicine that has plenty of benefits for the body. Many people use it for stress relief, and Berry shared that the practice helped her concentrate and feel grounded during lockdown.

What’s more, according to Berry, acupuncture also helped to regulate herΒ β€˜out-of-whack hormones,’ which she thinks is caused by perimenopause.

Talk it out

Mental health is trending and it helps that more and more celebrities are talking about the importance of mental health, as well as how they take care of theirs. As such, the mum of two revealed that sees a therapist only on occasion.

Another way in which she connects to herself is through meditation, revealing to Women’s Health that she retreats to a quiet space in her yard, centers herself, quietens her thoughts, and listen to her higher consciousness. Doing so has, according to her, become the β€˜key to keeping her mind right and staying connected to herself.’

β€œI’m trying to teach them to march to the beat of their own drum,” she said. β€œBe true to themselves, and not be followers, but be leaders and innovators.”

Want to know more?

One of Halle Berry’s most famous roles is that of the mutant Storm in the X-men movie series. Admittedly, I’ve watched those films more times than I can count, and I’m probably going to watch them again this holiday season which makes me wonder, Why do we seem to find so much comfort in re-watching the same movies?
