York

Packed full of history and charm, York is a beautiful city that offers something for everyone. Those that are up for a fright could head to the York Dungeons or go on a walking ghost tour around the city. You could also visit the National Railway Museum and JORVIK Viking Centre for some educational fun.

If your kids are interested in the wizarding world, then take them for a game of mini golf at the Hole in the Wand, before taking a stroll up the shambles to visit The Shop That Must Not Be Named and The Potions Cauldron.

London

There’s an almost endless amount of fun to be had in London, making it a great place to take your kids. Enjoy a trip to Madame Tussauds to see over 150 lifelike celebrity figures, see the city from the sky on the London Eye, or head to one of the fantastic West End shows.

You could even treat them to something from the famous Hamleys of London, which is home to seven floors of the very best toys and games you can imagine. It’s a kid’s heaven!

Edinburgh

With so much to do and see, it’s no wonder that around 1.3 million people chose to visit Edinburgh last year alone. There are plenty of family-friendly activities to enjoy, no matter what the weather. Head to the ever-popular Edinburgh Zoo to admire a range of wildlife, including chimpanzees, giant pandas, penguins, and lions.

Take a step back in time by visiting the castle, where the family can get a glimpse of the dungeons and hear the infamous one o’clock gun. You could also take a stroll in The Royal Botanic Garden or explore the magical World of Illusions.

Bristol

Nestled in the southwest, Bristol is easy to get to by train, car, or bus and is a fantastic city to explore with your little ones. Engage their brains by embarking on a harbourside treasure hunt before heading aboard the SS Great Britain – an ocean liner dating back to the 1800s.

You could also explore Aerospace Bristol to see iconic aircraft that have taken to the skies over the last 100 years. Or go on an underwater adventure at the Aquarium, where you can see marine life such as sharks, stingrays, tropical fish, and anemones.

With so many great cities to explore, where would you choose for your city break with the kids? Click here to find out how you can keep your young children active and entertained without technology.
