If there’s one city I want to visit in this lifetime, it’s definitely Paris. There seems to be an exhilarating magic that exists there. It’s no wonder that the city is an inexhaustible source of inspiration for perfumer Francis Kurkdjian. By capturing the rhythm, magic, and mystery of the French capital, Kurkdjian released two exceptional fragrances that embody the beauty of the city.

From Dusk to Dawn With Maison Francis Kurkdjian

Waking Up with Petite Matin

If you’re hoping to wake up on the right side of the bed, then you may need to indulge in the freshness of MFK Petite Matin.

The fragrance, inspired by a peaceful awakening in the city of love, can be best described as a musky-citrusy scent. As it touches my skin, I’m engulfed by accords that can be best described as citrus, fresh, and floral. This is thanks to the presence of Calabrian lemon and orange blossom. As it settles, the Ambroxan accord creeps up, bringing with it an ambery scent. Before long, the fragrance settles and a creamy and musky scent remains.

This unisex fragrance is perfect for spring as it’s fresh, clean, and quite cheerful. Thanks to its decent longevity and sillage, your morning joy will be sustained throughout the day. Those who get a whiff of the scent may also serve to improve their mornings as well.

Unwinding with Grand Soir

If you consider yourself to be a creature of the night, then this may be the scent for you. In creating this fragrance, Kurkdjian encourages you to embrace the stage that is Paris and throw yourself into a whirlwind of pleasures.

Personally, this fragrance is a little too strong for me. The amber accords, courtesy of Benzoin Siam, overpower the vanilla accords. This results in a strong and spicy perfume for your collection. While it’s advertised as a unisex fragrance, I’d be more likely to buy it for my male friends, or those looking for a virile odor. Unlike Petite Matin, I would encourage that this scent be worn during the warmer and colder months, and enjoyed as it lingers throughout a passion-filled evening.

Where do I find it?

Maison Francis Kurkdjian Petite Matin and Grand Soir are available from Skins Cosmetics and other niche perfume houses, available both in-store and online.

What’s in a scent? For Simone Andreoli, it’s a feeling, an emotion, and the lingering memories of childhood innocence and ebullience. That said, I was elated to embrace these very emotions with Simone Andreoli Vicebomb Eau de Parfum.
