We have all heard of CBD’s wonders, and I believe we would like to make use of it for wellness, health, and fun. After buying CBD products from processors, it may be time to take matters into your own hands; probably try to make some CBD edibles at home? I have hunted down two amazing recipes to help us in this venture.

But first, what are the benefits of CBD?

Depending on CBD’s specific type/strain and concentration, you can expect pain relief, better sleep, less inflammation, less anxiety, and many more benefits from these recipes. Below is a detailed overview of how CBD can boost your health, productivity, and wellness.

Eases Depression

Depression is a common mental health condition affecting a larger population worldwide. According to the World Health Organization, more than 264 million people suffer from depression globally. This number spans across people of all ages, and depression is considered a leading disability and a key contributor to the global burden of disease.

CBD is a promising treatment against depression due to its notable antidepressant effects once it interacts with the brain’s serotonin receptors (1). Serotonin is a hormone that impacts a wide range of functions in the body: from an emotional state to feelings of happiness and well-being. Keeping these hormones at balanced levels is key in helping patients cope with depression.

Besides the many animal studies done to determine CBD’s efficacy in treating depression, a 2018 study showed that CBD is a fast-acting antidepressant, not only in animals but also in humans.

Eases Anxiety and Enhances Better Sleep

Several research studies have been done on CBD and anxiety. People with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Social Anxiety Disorder (SAD) have been shown to cope well with CBD. A 2011 study was done on SAD patients. Participants received a 400 mg dose of CBD or a placebo. Participants who received the CBD dose showed reduced anxiety levels.

Further research on CBD’s effectiveness in the treatment of PTSD symptoms confirmed that CBD could help with adverse symptoms such as having delusive dreams and nightmares or replaying negative memories. The study also hinted that CBD is effective when used as a standalone PTSD treatment option or paired as a supplement with other physician-approved medications.

A large case series of studies on CBD’s effects on sleep and anxiety showed that CBD might hold benefits for anxiety-related conditions. It was also found that high-dose CBD increased the duration of sleep. This was an indication that CBD could help people with insomnia.

Alleviates Pain

The body contains a particular system called the endocannabinoid system, which helps with homeostasis or maintaining body balance. CBD is in itself a cannabinoid and can freely interact/impact the endocannabinoid receptor activity.

The result is an alteration of the way the body neurotransmitters convey specific responses in the body. It’s through this interaction with the endocannabinoid system that CBD can alleviate pain and reduce inflammation. CBD has also shown positive results in managing chronic pain common with arthritis and multiple sclerosis patients.

Boosts Immune System

CBD has been studied and shown to improve anti-inflammatory effects in the body by:

  • Reducing levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines
  • Inducing T-cell apoptosis
  • Inhibiting T-cell proliferation and helping reduce the adhesion and migration of immune cells.

Several diseases are linked to chronic inflammation. The latter occurs when the immune system intensively responds to allergens to a point where the body is always alert. This can have a devastating effect on the body’s tissues and organs. By helping reduce inflammation, CBD helps prevent conditions such as cancer, rheumatoid arthritis, type 2 diabetes.

CBD Recipes

One is for a beverage, and the other one is for a snack.Β  These two will be fun using, and they will also provide the benefits of CBD. It is all right to use CBD to help you through that stressful postpartum period because it would have little risk to you and your child.
