Papaya
Dr. Bizrah states that Collagen is the most plentiful protein in your body. He adds that it’s not just one of the building blocks for creating new hair. But it also helps keep the dermis strong and healthy, too. The dermis is the middle layer of your skin that contains the root of each individual hair.
Papaya is fantastic for preventing hair loss in your life. Dr. Bizrah told the Daily Mail that our body creates collagen by combining certain amino acids. These are usually found in foods like beef, chicken, fish, beans, eggs, and dairy products.
However, this process also requires vitamin C and papaya is abundant in vitamin C. In fact, just one large papaya is loaded with 235 milligrams of vitamin C, which is more than twice the amount of one orange. Interestingly, papayas are also rich in potassium. Experts state that a lack of potassium is also linked to hair loss.
Pineapples
These are one of my favorite fruits because they’re so sweet and satisfying. They’ve got so many health benefits too! Sadly, the majority of us are oblivious to ‘free radicals’ or unstable atoms that develop in the body and how damaging these cells are. They can cause all kinds of illnesses and fast-forward aging.
Dr. Bizrah explains that what you might not realize is that free radicals can also damage hair follicles. Older adults are particularly susceptible. He says that your body requires antioxidants to fight these free radicals. Moreover, you need to eat pineapples. This is because they’re rich in not only vitamin C, manganese, and vitamin B6, but they’re also loaded with antioxidants called flavonoids and phenolic acids.
Dr. Bizrah says the antioxidants found in pineapples are also longer lasting than those found in other foods, making them particularly effective.
Peaches
I believe that peaches are highly underrated fruits. However, Dr. Bizrah thinks that they are powerful and can help maintain a healthy scalp and prevent hair loss. He says they’re particularly great for moisturizing the hair.
This is because your scalp contains oil glands that produce sebum, which is a natural oil that lubricates the hair strand as it grows. Dr. Bizrah says that when there’s not enough of this moisturizing sebum in your hair, your scalp will suffer.
He adds that peaches can combat this as they are rich in vitamins A and C, so they’re a great natural moisturizer. And although there’s not much scientific evidence, many people also use peach juice as a topical solution. They apply it to the scalp in the belief that it’ll also ward off hair loss. Perhaps there’s some truth behind this?
Kiwis
These fruits are full of tang! I sometimes wonder why I don’t eat them more often. However, they’re apparently filled with hair loss prevention qualities.
Dr. Bizrah explains that Kiwis contain excellent levels of vitamin A, vitamin E, vitamin K, and flavonoid antioxidants like beta-carotene, lutein, and xanthin. He says that the fruit contains lots of vitamin C, which is good for collagen production, as well as omega-3 fatty acids which provide moisture.
Better yet, kiwis are also rich in minerals like zinc, magnesium, and phosphorus which are fantastic for your health. He says that these nutrients help to promote proper blood circulation in the scalp, which strengthens the hair from the roots. Kiwis are also rich in copper, which could help the hair preserve its natural color and keep gray hair at bay.
No more gray hair either? Better eat your kiwis.
Apples
Dr. Bizrah explains that apples contain vitamins A, B, and C, which are all vital when it comes to maintaining a healthy scalp and preventing dandruff. He states that apples are also packed with antioxidants to prevent free radicals and aid in cell renewal.
There is also scientific research found by the Tsukuba Research Laboratory in Tsukuba, Japan. It states that apples contain procyanidin B-2, which is a compound that appears to aid in the growth of new hair.
The Daily Mail explains that this research remains controversial and there’s a need for further proof. However, when it comes to healthy hair or hair loss, there’s certainly no harm in eating an apple a day.
