It’s that time of year again when we all start planning for the new year. Many of us opt to make resolutions, but a vision board might be the better way to go. The vision board can really help enforce what we want to achieve in the new year and support the practice of visualization.
Clarify Your Goals
Visualization will inevitably assist you in achieving the goals you have set out for yourself. Vision boards can be handmade or, if you’re feeling tech savvy, you can make an electronic one. Apps like Canva or EnVision make putting together a vision board simple. There are substantial benefits to making a vision board…
It’s all well and good to know that you want something. Most of us start the new year off with a million wants and needs that we hope to achieve during the course of 2023. However, you can lose sight of your goals (especially when they’re specific) if they aren’t constantly in front of you. Making a vision board is a really helpful and easy way to get clear on what you want. It can also help in identifying how you’re going to go about it.
A vision board will set out clear achievements so that you can track how you’re doing throughout the year. Essentially, it creates focus so that you are always thinking ahead to goals rather than moving blindly forward. Personally, I like to create one on Canva and make it my computer wallpaper so that I am constantly reminded of what I want to achieve.
Grow & Get Motivated
Of course, it’s best to create a vision board at the beginning of the new year. However, the greatest thing about them is that they can be constantly adjusted and updated as you move through the year. For instance, if you achieve a goal, you can remove it and replace it with a new one. As your goals shift and change, it allows you to really focus on the next important thing, as well as showcase how much you have achieved when you re-visit the original one at the end of the year. It’ll also serve to motivate you to achieve your goals as you aim to cross more goals off your list.
Shift your mindset and get intentional
Reflecting on your vision boards, past, and present, can really assist in lifting your mood. This will inevitably result in a positive mindset. When you feel positive about the future, you get more done and are, generally, much more successful. Because it’s visual, you can focus on what each of the images means to you and think about the positive outcome of achieving the goal. You’ll also be able to gauge how essential a specific goal is, allowing you to tier them.
Making a vision board will also change how intentional you are about your goals and how you think about them. Seeing your goals laid out on a daily basis can really set the tone for how your day moves forward. When you’re more intentional about your day, you’ll be more able to prioritize what will move you forwards toward your goals.
Increase happiness
Yep, you heard it right, your vision board could serve to make you happier. Doing something creative like making your vision board can give you a major mood boost. More than just prioritizing your goals, it can also assist you in prioritizing yourself. This is because you can really take time out when you review your vision board and think about what you want to achieve moving forward. Taking this time to review your goals will also allow you to think about the effect that achieving your goals will have on you.
Improve your productivity and chances of success
Even if we do have goals set out, we can still get stuck. You might find that as the year moves forward, you lack the energy or drive to complete your goals. When you feel stuck and unproductive, revisiting a vision board is a great way to get back on track. Looking at your vision board can also help reduce procrastination and inspire you to get back on track. Your goals will immediately look more achievable, and it’ll no doubt increase your ability to get things done.
Then, as you achieve some of your goals, your determination and focus will increase. You’ll be clearer about what your vision is and why it’s important to you. When you have a clearer idea of what the vision is, your chances of succeeding at achieving these goals skyrocket.
