Gateway of India

This is one of the brilliant architecture and the view is amazing especially at night time.

Elephanta caves

Elephant caves are located at Gharapuri island, which is around eleven kilometres from Mumbai. This is a UNESCO world heritage site. The visiting time is from morning 9:00 to evening 5:30. It will take around four to five hours to see this place. It is a very important site because it is an archaeological site. For kids under fifteen, the entrance is free. You can also reach here by taking a ferry from the Gateway of India. The whole site is built form one solid rocks and inside you can find beautiful sculptors. In total there are seven caves. There are two groups of alcoves in Elephanta caves. One is a large group of five Hindu caves and another small set of two Buddhist caves. It was the Portuguese who visited during the earlier period who gave this name to this heritage. You can take a cab to reach here or you can take a ferry from Gateway of India. Apart from being a popular tourist destination, this is also a good place for trekking. The best time to visit Elephanta caves is during winter time which is from November to February. One should avoid visiting the caves from June to August as it will be the rainy season. It will be slippery and the ferry ride will stop due to weather conditions.

Hanging Garden

The hanging garden is also known as Pherozeshah Mehta Gardens which is located at the top of Malabar hills and is just opposite Kamala Nehru Park. This garden has so many trees, shrubs and colourful flowers. There are so many hedges carved into various shapes of animals. People would love to come here to have a good time with their family. It is a quiet and calm place away from the main city. The air is clean and there is so much greenery that is the reason why people love to come here.

It is around twenty-two kilometres from the airport. You can hire a cab to reach here. The opening time is from morning five to night nine. The best time to visit the hanging garden is from October to June. It is better not to visit during the monsoon because then you will not be able to enjoy it. You can enjoy a nice view of South Mumbai and can also visit the beach nearby. It is better to visit the garden early morning otherwise it will become hot and you will not be able to enjoy it much.
