Who doesn’t love a good fragrance?  Using a fragrance in our beauty routine is a cornerstone of self-care and self-love. Both of which are importance contributors to our sense of wellbeing and  longevity. The beauty team at Longevity has compiled a review of bespoke  perfume highlights from popular articles we published over the past year. These fragrances break the mould of the mainstream and for those looking for something unique are worth a consideration.

Bespoke Choices For Fragrance Lovers

Your brain reacts to external stimuli, that is an indisputable fact. Your brain also responds to scent.  We have many ways of perceiving, recalling, and remembering the world, and one of the most potent external triggers is scent, or fragrance. Our sense of smell, and thereby a large part of our sense of taste as well, is closely tied to emotions and memories, and fragrances can have a powerful impact on our mood and behavior.

Let’s take a look at what fragrance means to us

A fragrance, also known as a perfume or scent, is a mixture of aromatic compounds that are combined to create a specific and distinctive odor.

They can be made from natural sources such as flowers, plants, and fruits, as well as synthetic compounds created in a laboratory.

Fragrances are used to enhance personal hygiene, create pleasant atmospheres.  But for many, their role is much deeper. A fragrance can evoke a memory of a person. It can be attributed to a person’s identify.  Certain fragrances are known to evoke a better sense of self, and uplift mood and self-expression!

The scent of a fragrance can vary widely depending on its ingredients and the way it is formulated and can have a powerful effect on our emotions and mood. The type of oils and ingredients used are known scientifically to affect our brains and therefore our sense of self.

Smells and fragrances Can Boost our Mood and Confidence

When we smell a particular fragrance, the odor molecules travel from our nostrils to the olfactory bulb in the brain, triggering a cascade of neural activity. Most, if not all, of us, will surely have specific smells we associate with very specific times in our lives. For example, I am sent right back to my childhood, by the smell of rose hip flowers on a warm summer’s day.

We have selected a range of fragrances that are out of the ordinary and really work on producing a full mood effect.
