Yes, it’s a challenge to stay fit when most of the gyms have closed their doors. Although we’ve got a pandemic on our hands. However we still need to keep ourselves active and healthy physically, mentally and emotionally. Recent updates about Covid-19 all encourage self-isolation for anyone showing symptoms and anyone living with someone experiencing symptoms, for at least fourteen days. Let’s guess, you just got into a solid routine at the gym to stay fit and now you’re feeling lost and frustrated.

No worries, we’ve got you covered in our list of the top YouTube channels! All you need to do is subscribe to one you like so you can stay fit at home. It’s just not worth the risk of spreading the virus, despite your fitness goals. Staying at home indefinitely seems a bit overwhelming, especially when you’re used to living on the go and getting your 10k steps in. Just the thought of being alone at home freaks many out – particularly if you live by yourself.

Instead of feeling scared by the isolation, try and embrace it. Being at home is an opportunity to stay fit and get your sweat on in new and exciting ways. Home workouts can challenge you in different ways. They allow you to try things you’ve never tried before. It’s also a good time to implement more simplistic healthy habits into your daily routine and mix things up a little.

What’s the best part? You get to stay fit on your terms and at your own intensity.

Stay Fit On Your Terms

You can decide what you feel like, depending on your mood. Sometimes it’s easy to get caught up in the whole gym-bunny scene, so much so that we no longer listen to what our body feels like doing. Maybe you’re feeling a little stiff – try some Yoga. Feel like stretching your legs – go for a walk.   Or maybe Corona stress is catching up with you? Perhaps it’s better to try some meditation videos instead.

Basically, just because you’re self-isolating doesn’t mean that you need to sit all day for weeks on end. In fact, it might be the best time to stay fit because you’re in the comfort of your own home.

What About Social-Distancing?

Whilst this is an important aspect to stay fit and healthy. If you’re not self-isolating, you can still go for a run or a walk. In fact, the government guidelines explain that going outside is alright but you must be two feet away from others. Maybe running isn’t your thing? That’s perfect because there’s a number of fitness influencers and personal trainers who are doing live exercise classes.

You can take your pick from bodyweight HIIT workouts and yoga classes. If you’re not keen on doing live classes then there are plenty of fitness coaches who have a back catalog of YouTube videos for you to stay fit with. We must stay fit because it’s very important for looking after our mental health during this isolation period. Mental health treatment specialists suggest exercising for three hours a week to help combat the symptoms of mental illness.

You also don’t need much equipment to get a home workout done either. You can stay fit by doing bodyweight exercises and yoga. If you want to buy some equipment then you will do fine with some resistance bands, a skipping rope, a yoga mat, and dumbbells or kettlebells. These tools will help keep your workout interesting.
