I’m not scared of aging. Frankly, I’m just hoping that I’m still on top of my health, both mentally and physically, which may be easy because, unlike the perception in Hollywood, aging is a good thing. While it may be the worst thing to happen to an actress, for Eva Longoria, it’s a phase of life that she’s always happy to embrace.

Eva Longoria’s Guide to Longevity At 50

“For me, age is just a number, but I’m excited. I refuse to believe my greatest success is behind me…I just want to age well. I want to be able to climb upstairs, I want to be able to get up and down, I want to play with my kids, so I’m all about biohacks that will make me last longer.” – Eva Longoria, Marie Claire

Having recently turned 50 and looking decades younger, there’s a lot that we can learn from Eva Longoria about staying on top of our health as we age. With that, this article details how the actress continues to appear as anything but a desperate housewife.

1. Fitness Fanatic

“I’ve always been an exerciser. It gives me energy. I don’t really do it for vain reasons, I do it for my mental health.” Eva Longoria

With a background in fitness, which also includes a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology, Longoria is all about working out, even if it means waking up early,

“If I have to wake up early and take a flight, when I land, I’ll go for a walk because I didn’t get to work out. Even if it’s just stretching, I need to do something.”

Trampoline Expert

During the 2020 lockdown, many of us were either perfecting our banana bread recipes or partaking in TikTok challenges. But if you’re Eva Longoria, you’re starting your rebounding journey by jumping on a mini trampoline.

“First, I had to figure out how to jump on the thing,” explained Longoria to Women’s Health, before adding that she quickly mastered the technique and now bounces at least five-seven times a week.

“It makes me present,” she explains, “You really have to focus on the routine and memorize the movements. They switch sides a lot, which can throw you off, so you have to be on top of it. I love that.”

Aside from being a low impact exercise, rebounding trampoline can help improve balance, boost cardiovascular health by increasing endurance and circulation, burn calories, and improve bone density,

“Plus, it’s so good for lymphatic drainage,” adds the Only Murders In The Building actress.

Strength Trainer

In addition to regular bouncing, the mom of 1 is also a strong fan of strength training, with a passion for “very heavy weights.”

Speaking on exercises that include squatting on a weight rack with at least one 25-pound plate on each end and hip thrusts that feature a 50-pound plate on her hips, Longoria shares that she feels like her body changes the most when she partakes in such workouts, “I wear a heart rate monitor, and I can see my heart rate spike from just doing a heavy bicep curl.

Longoria also engages in kettlebell flow classes, proving her passion for strength training. Strength training is not only a great way to work out but has also been found to increase muscle strength and bone density, reduce fall risk, and aid in weight management.

2. Healthy Eater

Plant-based Princess

Having grown up on a ranch where a large part of her diet was what her family grew, Longoria is all about plant-based eating,

“It gave me such an appreciation for where food comes from: It comes from the ground,” explains Longoria, who adds that she loves beans and making portobello tacos, jackfruit tacos, and cauliflower fried rice.

Plant-based eating won’t only help you develop a deeper appreciation for food sources, but it’s also a great source of nutrients, vitamins, and it’s healthier for the planet.

Intermittent Faster

Like fellow actress Jennifer Aniston, Longoria is an intermittent faster, typically eating within an eight-hour window each day, often between 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. “Breakfast is black coffee,” she says, which comes before she makes breakfast for her family.

While she sometimes takes a bite of her son’s breakfast, a bean taco, the actress shared that her lunch is typically protein—steak, fish, or chicken—and vegetables, whereas dinner is either another version of that or a hearty soup.

There’s a reason why intermittent fasting is so popular among Hollywood actresses, and that’s because of its incredible benefits, which include weight management, improved blood sugar levels, reduced inflammation, better heart health, and even increased longevity.

3. Biohacking Beauty

Meditation

A firm believer in self-care, Longoria shared that she typically meditates for 5–20 minutes.

Meditation isn’t just a great way to connect with your thoughts. In fact, it’s also been found to reduce stress, ease anxiety and even improve sleep.

Sleep Tracker

One habit that Longoria has also gotten into is tracking her sleep, using an Oura Ring.

By tracking your sleep, you can identify sleep patterns and potential problems, which can ensure improved sleep quality.

Demi Moore recently won a Golden Globe for her role in The Substance. Ironically, the movie tackles an actress’s fears about being aged out of Hollywood. Yet at 62, Demi Moore is still turning heads both on and off the awards stage.
