We need healthy joints. You can’t run, walk or even move if your joints are unhealthy. With arthritis affecting 7% of the global population (this is more than 500 million people worldwide) as well as leaving women disproportionately affected by the condition, it’s important that we continue to support our joint health.
One company focused on prioritizing joint health is the US-based Nutramax Laboratories. The company not only caters to human joint health, but it also looks out for the joint health of animals.
“My father was the one that patented it” explains Vice President of Nutramax Laboratories Dr. Troy Henderson. Dr. Henderson went on to reveal that his father’s friends shared that they were concerned about the wellness of their horses. It wasn’t long after this that Dr. Henderson’s father worked with veterinarians to come up with a formulation to help animals.
Soon enough, Dr. Henderson’s brother Todd Henderson, who was a vet and current President of Nutramax Laboratories, started using the products on animals and achieved great results and the vet market really took off.
Healthy Joints Matter
Brian Cornblatt PhD is the medical director at Nutramax Laboratories. According to him, they’re showing and proving safety as well as molecular efficacy to promote health and wellness in real human clinical trials.
“We work diligently day in and day out to ensure that consumers are going to be taking something safe and something that’s been proven to be efficacious at a molecular level” he explained.
Inflammation and joint health
“Inflammation is the heart of everything. My father had colorectal cancer, and it drove me to not want to treat cancer, but rather prevent it, thus asking: what is the root cause of cancer?” explains Cornblatt, “I started looking at it from a cellular level and I soon realized that inflammation drives a number of chronic diseases such as heart disease, joint problems, cancer, immune system problems. You can tame inflammation as well as promote health and wellness.”
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the following factors may trigger inflammation and increase your risk for arthritis:
- Age
- Obesity
- Family History
- Sex: Women are more likely to develop arthritis
- Smoking: A 2019 study found that quitting smoking can reduce your risk for arthritis
How can I maintain healthy joints?
There are a few ways that you can manage the health of your joints as you age. These include:
- Quitting smoking
- Leading an active lifestyle (opt for low-impact exercises like walking, as well as swimming, and cycling)
- Stay hydrated
- Improving your posture
- Maintaining a healthy weight
- Consuming a plant-based diet
- Managing your stress
- Not overdoing exercises
- Strengthen your muscles
What about supplements?
“You need to be careful when buying supplements. Especially when you’re buying online. Ensure that it’s not a counterfeit product.” explains Dr. Troy Henderson.
That said, Nutramax Laboratories offers a range of supplements that can help promote healthy joints. These include Cosamin Double Strength Joint Care, Cosamin Avoca, which is a vegetarian formula, and Cosamin ASU, which is an advanced formula.
