There’s been a lot of talk about Korean beauty regimes over the last couple of years, and for good reason! Korean women are known for their flawless and radiant skin. Taking care of themselves is something that’s deeply ingrained in Korean culture.

In this post, Sophia Smith argues the case for K-Beauty. By now, you’ve probably heard about Korean women’s multi-step beauty regimes they’re famed for.

Chances are, you’re asking yourself what makes these 10-step beauty regimes so popular. You’re also wondering if you’re missing out by not incorporating those extra few steps into your regular beauty routine. Whether you’re a beginner or consider yourself a skincare aficionado, here are a couple of reasons why we are obsessed with world-famous Korean beauty regimens (and why you should be, too!).

Every Step Has A Particular Purpose

Making time to go through a 10-step beauty regime and care for yourself may sound like a lot of work. That said, each and every step in the Korean skincare routine has a particular purpose, and it’s not as much about the steps as it is about providing the skin with the things it needs to remain young-looking and well-cared-for.

As for the steps themselves, here’s a quick list as a reminder:

  • Remove dirt and makeup with an oil-based cleanser
  • Use a cleanser once again (this time, it should be water-based or foaming)
  • Exfoliate the skin with a gentle scrub
  • Balance your pH levels with a toner
  • Apply essence as a second layer of moisture to soothe the skin
  • Rely on a serum/ampoule that addresses your skin concerns (mature, dry, oily skin, etc.)
  • Use vitamin and mineral-enriched mask to hydrate and soften the skin
  • Soothe and moisturize the sensitive skin around the eyes with an eye cream
  • Rely on a moisturizer to lock in these layers (cream-based for dry skin, lotion-based for oily skin)
  • Rely on SPF for sun protection

The Steps Are So Flexible They Can Be Adjusted

One of the best things about the steps in the Korean beauty regimes is that they can easily be changed and adjusted in order to fit your individual needs.

This is important because, when it comes to beauty, there’s no one-size-fits-all approach, and what works for someone else may not work for you (and vice versa).

For starters, the skincare routine you choose to follow has to be in accordance with your skin type. You also need to keep in mind any skin concerns you may have and make sure they’re being addressed by your skincare regime.

This will largely determine the type of skincare products you will need to get. It’d be best if you’d curate your own routine. Take it one step at a time and try out different products until your beauty routine is perfectly tailored to your skin’s needs.

K Beauty Is Much Easier To Get Your Hands-On Nowadays

It wasn’t until recently that Korean beauty became more widely available. It’s been popularized even further with the help of fashion and beauty bloggers. Most of those who have tested the 10–step routines witnessed some amazing results after using an abundance of hydrating products these regimes are widely known and praised for.

Nowadays, getting your hands on K beauty is easier than ever. There’s an abundance of quality products to choose from, we’re practically spoiled for choice. There are a plethora of Korean skincare products that address all the different skin concerns. These products are also suitable for a variety of tones, types, and textures of the skin.

Other than being easy to shop for, Korean beauty products are also relatively affordable. This means that you can work these products into your skincare routine without them costing you an arm and a leg.

The Routine Makes For A Luxurious and Indulging “me time”

Our hectic lifestyle and overflowing schedules can make it challenging for us to dedicate even a small portion of our day to skincare.

Chances are, many of us don’t really feel like going through a multiple-step routine after a day of hard work. That being said, not taking care of your skin will take its toll eventually.

On the other hand, if you adopt an effective beauty routine early on, you can prevent a multitude of issues such as wrinkles and blemishes, and prevention is what Korean beauty regimes are all about. Carving out the time in your schedule (preferably before bedtime) to take proper care of your skin can be quite a luxurious and indulging “me time” when you think about it.

It forces you to slow down, nurture, and really cherish your own beauty instead of rushing through the process. That way, not only do you end up with quick and amazing results, but you get to also turn your regular skincare routine into a wonderfully joyous experience and adopt a completely different, refreshed mindset.

Wrapping Up

They say that prevention is better than cure. When it comes to beauty and skincare, no one does this quite as Korean women do. By adopting the 10-step beauty routine and following it religiously as Koreans do, you’ll manage to slow the signs of aging. You’ll also be able to retain that healthy, youthful glow for years to come.
