Rock and roll will never die, and it’s clear that Lenny Kravitz will never age. The rock legend is arguably in the best shape of his life, and it’s quite clear from his Instagram posts and recent Men’s Health cover that the musician hasn’t let the pandemic deter him from living a healthy and fit life.

So, at 56 years old we really have to ask ourselves how he manages to stay in such tip-top shape, especially when some of us have gained lockdown weight. Believe it or not, his health routine is pretty simple and it’s something that we can all easily adopt.

Lenny Kravitz Health Routine

“I’m very careful about what I put into my body and how I take care of my body. It’s a combination of eating all these things and working out and keeping my muscles and my joints in shape, so that I can do what I do.”

He jumps rope

“To stay fit, I always carry a jump rope with me.” the four-time Grammy Award winner once shared. Suffice to say, jump rope isn’t only an easy way to stay fit, but it can actually boast a lot of health benefits.

In addition to burning a ton of calories, jumping rope can help to improve your coordination, boost your heart health, and even reduce the risk of injury. Therefore, if you’re traveling anytime soon, and are worried about how you’re going to stay fit, make sure to keep a jump rope in your backpack.

He breaks a sweat outdoors

“I like to be outdoors doing things that you can do with your body—pull-ups, sit-ups, push-ups, squats. Gyms are cool, but I find them boring. I prefer to run outside in nature—it’s far more inspiring.” said Kravitz to Happy Magazine.

In addition to being far more inspiring, spending time in nature, be it working out or just taking a walk, can do wonders for your health. A study of 20,000 people, published in Scientific Reports, found that people who spent two hours a week in green spaces — local parks or other natural environments, either all at once or spaced over several visits — were substantially more likely to report good health and psychological well-being than those who don’t.

He visits the organic market

“I’ll hit the organic market or the farmer’s market and pick up some spinach, kale, carrots, beets, garlic—it really promotes great health.” the rocker shared.

In addition to supporting local farmers, visiting the organic market is a great way to protect your body. This is because organic food has fewer pesticides and heavy metals, which we know can be harmful to one’s health.

Additionally, a study conducted by the European Parliament’s Independent Research Service discovered that organic produce has around 50% more healthy fats. Furthermore, a separate study published in the British Journal of Nutrition revealed that organic crops and crop-based foods have up to 70 percent higher in a number of key antioxidants than conventionally grown crops.

He also grows his own food

“A great blessing of living here in the Bahamas is that I get to grow my own food,” Kravitz says.

If you still need more convincing to turn your backyard into your own personal food garden, here it is. Growing your food means you’ll have access to fresher, more nutritious food free of processing, and pesticides. Additionally, if you’re yet to renew your gym membership, gardening is a great way to keep active, and it also helps you get that much-needed dose of vitamin D all while helping you relax and offering stress relief.

He drinks coconut water

If you’re looking to cut back on your consumption of sodas and alcohol, coconut water would be a great alternative.

This is because the beverage is bursting with nutrients, and it’s been found to potentially protect heart health, as well as reduce the risk for diabetes.

He does indulge

Now Kravitz wouldn’t be a true rock and roller if he didn’t bend the rules a bit, and the same can be said for his eating habits.

“…I love good food, too. There’s a big, fat, greasy man inside of me. I live in Paris for half the year, and I love indulging in pastries and fine foods and wine and Champagne. If I do cheat, it’s usually with something pretty outrageous. Then I get it out of my system and get back to trying to stay fit.”

That said, if you are looking to indulge a bit, just make sure you do it responsibly and that you always prioritize your health above anything else.

Lenny Kravitz isn’t the only musician who’s aging as well as his music. In fact, Madonna recently turned 62 and it’s clear that the material girl can still stay on top of her health, as well as the charts.
