What’s the point of living forever if you don’t have someone to share it with? With the new year, you may be looking to adopt habits that can boost your longevity, but there’s no need to do it alone. Take Kayla Barnes-Lentz and Warren Lentz for instance. The couple, who tied the knot in 2023, nine months after meeting on Raya, are redefining the term ‘til death do us part’ by planning on living “healthily until the age of 150”.

A Couple’s Guide To Living Forever – Together

Kayla Barnes-Lentz, 33, has been committed to wellness long before she met her husband, as she is the co-owner of LYV the Wellness Space, a health, and longevity clinic. As such, it’s no surprise that her love for wellness soon trickled into her love life, so much so that she asked for her husband’s vitals before she even met him in person,

“Health was brought up immediately. I also asked for his labs on our second call.” – Kayla Barnes-Lentz

Warren Lentz, 36, a marketing executive, was more than happy to oblige, which resulted in his now-wife sending him additional labs to complete, including a “gut test, comprehensive blood work, genetic test and total toxic burden test.”, per The Independent.

Once meeting in person, it didn’t take long for the couple to fall for each other – after Barnes-Lentz asked him for detailed information about his health and biology of course – and settled on a romantic goal, which is to “live as long as my husband does, not forever.”

1. PEMF to start the morning

To start off the morning, our favorite biohacking couple “set the tone for our day by optimizing our mind and body” with PEMF.

PEMF refers to pulsed electromagnetic field therapy, which is a style of treatment that sends electromagnetic energy into the body. According to researchers, PEMF has been found to manage chronic pain, improve blood supple, as well as stimulate cells, which can have beneficial effects on the body, and reduce inflammation.

2. Take a sunrise walk

Following their PEMF morning session, the Lentz’s chose to stretch their legs with a sunrise walk.

Not only is it a great view, but a sunrise walk can enhance your mood, boost your energy levels, increase your metabolism, and improve blood circulation. If that’s not enough, getting your steps in can also help you manage your weight, improve your posture, reduce your risk for disease, and strengthen your bones.

3. Enjoy an organic breakfast

For their first meal of the day, the couple opt for an organic breakfast, which falls in line with Barnes-Lentz’s food philosophy.

Taking to Instagram, the biohacker shared that while she doesn’t count calories or avoid foods with cholesterol, she does eat ‘real whole foods, with the highest standard of farming practices possible’ and doesn’t support big food in general.

4. Cold water plunging

I’m not a fan of the cold. At all. Yet, Barnes-Lentz and her partner are, including cold water plunges in their daily routine, and they may be on to something.

Not only does it wake your body up, but cold water therapy can also alleviate pain, speed up post-exercise recovery, alleviate symptoms of depression and anxiety, and even assist with fat burning and blood sugar regulation.

If you don’t have a cold water tank in your backyard, why not start your mornings with cold showers over the next few weeks?

5. Hyperbaric chamber

The idea of sitting in an enclosed space for a few minutes and leaving it anti-aged on every cellular level may sound bizarre, but that’s exactly what a hyperbaric chamber is.

A hyperbaric chamber creates a pressurized environment where individuals breathe pure oxygen at levels higher than atmospheric pressure. This triggers metabolic changes that can lead to reversed biological aging, a stronger immune system, and new connective tissues and skin cells.

6. Have dinner at 17:30

While you may enjoy a late meal after a long day, you may want to follow the Lentzs’ lead by opting for an early dinner – like really early.

Eating your last meal of the day before 19:00 can mean a healthier night’s rest (thanks to a realigned circadian rhythm), a reduced risk for heartburn, and an even lower risk for obesity, as eating late at night has been found to increase one’s risk for the condition.

7. Red light after sunset

At sunset, Kayla and Warren shared that they do a sauna session and switch the house to red lights.

Another hacker who is a big fan of red light therapy is Ben Greenfield, and that’s because the therapy not only has anti-inflammatory effects, but it’s also great for your muscles, skin, mental health and cardiovascular health.

8. Lights out at 9pm

As someone who struggles with insomnia, getting to fall asleep before 11:00 pm sounds like a pipe dream, but for Kayla and Warren, it’s their nightly routine as the couple falls asleep by 9:00pm.

Achieving an early bedtime will ensure that you get your 8 hours, which will trigger a host of benefits that include improved emotional well-being, enhanced, and protected, cognitive function, weight management, as well as healthier heart, skin, and brain.

After the Longevity Honeymoon

For Barnes-Lentz, living longer isn’t just about the romance as she’s also “optimizing” her body “in preparation for motherhood for years”, and ensures that her husband does the same,

“I have helped my husband optimize his biology pre-conception [too] because we know that the mother and father’s health impacts the health of the children.”

As for whether she plans on applying the same attention to detail during her pregnancy that she did when she met her husband, the answer is a resounding yes,

“I will be doing in-depth labs during my pregnancy so we can gather never-before-seen data on women during pregnancy.”

While dogs are considered man’s oldest friends, horses have been our faithful companions for years.

Now, while they’re not being used to fight global battles in modern times, horses are a great tool in our fight against aging. Just ask Michelle Gillette, a certified functional medicine health and longevity coach, who took to Instagram to highlight the benefits of spending time with horses.
