Longevity LIVE Paid Content. Working is a considerable part of life, both as a duty and as a time commitment. Everyone strives for a healthy balance of work and life. Sometimes, for extended periods or brief moments, it’s hard to achieve this. Those who focus on their wellness can feel that they’re neglecting themselves. They needn’t. Sometimes other duties need to be honored and dealt with – a different point of life needs to be emphasized, receive more attention – and this is okay. However, there are simple activities and solutions which can help maintain wellness while going through these intense periods.
Posture
At work, our body goes through different motions than it does in other areas of our lives. Especially if we are sat at a desk or behind a wheel all day. Our spines can become compressed and our back muscles can become weak. Additionally, our hamstrings can become tight. This can lead to discomfort. If it becomes an extended and continual problem then the best course of action is to seek medical help.
Your employer may provide access to private healthcare insurance, or you may be using a standard public healthcare plan. Establishments like BC Back Chiropractor, for instance, offer treatments accepted by all the major healthcare plans. Finding the best option for you will be best achieved by reading the information on their websites, looking at reviews, and having consultations to see what is said and suggested.
Exercises can be performed at a desk to aid recovery pre- or post-appointment. Isolation stretches are a very viable option when you’re feeling tight or just want to make the most of some brief downtime. Some are more dynamic – upper body twists – and some are more static – chest openers. They are effective in helping maintain and improve posture and wellbeing.

Diet
When we’re stressed or don’t have a lot of spare time then fundamentals can be neglected, such as our diet. This can have a compound effect though.
Can leave us in a position where we can’t work at our best. We must eat. Preparing meals in advance is a great way to alleviate the difficulties of eating at work. You can cook big batches for dinner and freeze leftovers to use later in the week or prepare different meals, using cooking as a method to relax and prepare for the upcoming week.
Drinks should be included in this consideration too. Water is valuable. It’s easy to just do the coffee and tea runs throughout the day. Everyone has tea and coffee at work. It’s what people do. However, having glasses or even a bottle of water by the desk will help keep you hydrated better than a coffee can.
Mental Health
Mental wellness has received far more focus in recent times than ever before. It’s a fundamental aspect of life now which is being treated with the better care and attention it needs. Workplaces are following suit too.
Managing time and workload can be difficult. If the work is important, and you feel both responsible for it and proud of it then the work will be done. Taking a break, though, doesn’t mean the work is less likely to be done.
It gets you outside of it for a moment, and when you head back in you can feel refreshed and reading, the separation affording you a new perspective and some time to yourself to aid wellness.
