Staying healthy and happy while on the road is incredibly important. Traveling can be stressful, tiring, and even a bit of a grind at times, and ensuring that you take care of your physical and mental health is vital, not least because it helps you enjoy your vacations more! A good carry-on filled with essentials is critical.
Luckily, there are loads of wellness products you can take with you in your carry-on that will make traveling a more pleasant experience, and ensure that you reach your destination feeling in great shape and ready for your exciting adventures.
Are you cruising to Alaska? Taking a road trip across Canada? Or heading for an adventure in the Pacific Northwest? Here are some absolute essentials to pack in your carry-on that will ensure you get to your destination feeling refreshed and ready for anything!
Tea Tree oil
Tea tree oil is a miracle product, with a huge variety of uses, and is absolutely perfect for traveling. It comes in a teeny-tiny bottle (so no worries about luggage allowance or liquids in your carry-on), and provides solutions and relief for a wide array of issues, many of which are particularly relevant for travel. You can use tea tree oil as a hand sanitizer or as a mild antiseptic for cuts and scrapes. It is great for fighting acne and other skin outbreaks, and will even work as a natural deodorant!
Lip balm
Dry recirculated air in airports and planes will dry out your lips. A small tin of lip balm is a great way to avoid the discomfort of cracking lips. And if you pick up the right balm, you’ll also be able to manage damaged cuticles and dry cheeks as well!
Sleep mask
Getting enough sleep while traveling to your vacation destination can be a challenge, and for some of us sleeping on a plane, train, or in a car is a pipe dream (no pun intended). But one of the best ways to give yourself a fighting chance of catching forty winks on the move is with a high-quality, soft, comfortable sleep mask. Something silky that fits well and keeps out the light. This will help you drift off and arrive at your destination fresh as a daisy. Some decent earplugs or noise-reducing earphones are a great idea as well if you are bothered by noise.
Water bottle
As well as sleep, hydration is a big wellness issue for travelers. Get yourself a good water bottle, but only fill it up once you’ve passed the TSA security checks, and keep yourself refreshed and hydrated throughout your journey.
Vitamin D
In more northern latitudes like Canada or Alaska, the lack of sun can make a surprising difference to your state of mind, and your health. Sunlight contains vitamin D, and vitamin D deficiency can be problematic. Vitamin D supplements offer a whole host of health benefits, but for traveling the most important thing is that it strengthens your immune system, helps regulate your mood and avoids depression or seasonal affective disorder.
Moisturizer
Cold, dry air, and wind can all dry out your skin quickly when on vacation, so packing a cream-based, light moisturizer is a great way to keep yourself feeling good and keep your skin properly hydrated. For travelers with sensitive skin, a fragrance- and lanolin-free moisturizer is a good idea, applied directly to wet skin after a shower or a bath to lock in moisture. Remember to keep the size of your carry-on products below 100ml each.
Pay attention to your wellness while on vacation. It doesn’t have to be a challenge, and with this wellness, essentials tucked into your carry-on you’ll be guaranteed the trip of a lifetime. Read more and the latest blog! 5elifestyle
