Meet Rosalind Dockendorff
Rosalind Dockendorff is an Inner Sense Facilitator. Inner Sense facilitation includes yoga, meditation and neurogenic tremors, all enveloped in a philosophy of transparent communication. Transparent communication is a systemic approach to understanding ourselves.
A starting point is with what we are aware of, going deeper into these areas and cultivating the ability to feel and see beyond what is obvious in our initial observation of the area or symptom.
During the retreat, Rosalind will use daily sessions with inner sense yoga to facilitate deep sessions with participants.
The more we deepen our practice of inner sensing we integrate unconscious stress in our system and life can become more fluid. The softening of contractions, strengthening breath awareness and becoming conscious of our day to day movements cultivates an open relational space with our inner eco system and an authentic approach to our relationships. A deeper feeling of ourselves can lead to a more integrated approach to life and being available to what life has to offer as a blessing or resource.
Yoga is a movement practice that carries the energy of deep ancient philosophical wisdom. An asana (yoga pose) is much more than a “position’. It has meaning on a physiological, metaphysical, physical and energetic level. An Inner Sense yoga practice draws on all these areas to cultivate a deeper awareness of the inner message that surfaces in asana. Ultimately, we want to trust what we feel, be curious about why we feel it the way we do and in that place of the body, then surrender to integrate the feeling/sensation.
The wisdom of integrating a fragmented part of ourselves is reflected in our every day lives, as a more peaceful approach to everything we do and say. This shift in perspective can help us feel safer in the world and feel more ‘whole’.
Within the Inner Sense sequence we include a gentle 3 sync meditation. This easy to follow meditation comes out of the teachings of Thomas Hubl. The process of this meditation is to cultivate the capacity to be more in tune with what we are feeling in ourselves, what we can attune to in another, and then the capacity to feel in ourselves that the other is feeling us. So we feel felt, they feel felt and the space between us is a feeling space, often a very safe space, making us more open and available to each other. A continued practice will ease feelings of anxiety and fear that can become present in relational spaces – being in conversations or meetings with others.
An option in the Inner Sense practice is to include neurogenic tremors. A technique used to initiate involuntary shaking or trembling. It is an organic, natural stress response or innate way for the nervous system to discharge excessive tension and release stored stress, or even trauma. It can be very relaxing for highly activated nervous systems and is a wonderful tool to deepen a movement awareness or meditation practice. This effective stress release process comes from the work of David Berceli (TRE).
To end an Inner Sense practice, depending on the group and environment, a short sharing session is encouraged to help integrate what has become available to us during the practice. Being heard is a powerful tool to help us understand something in ourselves.
Rosalind has been facilitating groups for over 15 years, qualifying in more than 1000 hours of yoga training, locally with Kerry Weaving (Indieyoga) and internationally with Ana Forrest (Forrest Yoga). Her independent style of teaching includes valuable insights from all styles of yoga. Rosalind has additional training in various energy medicine modalities and is currently a student of Thomas Hubl.
The Inner Sense creation stems out of her deep experiential training in individual and collective trauma with Thomas Hubl over the past four years. Rosalind lives her practice daily so she can hold a safe, integrated space for others.
She believes it starts with our own inner eco-system, our own safety and our own ‘ground’. Sharing this embodied wisdom is her passion. Plettenberg Bay is her home where she has a studio with a special community. She shares the wisdom of Inner Sense in yoga classes, local retreats and workshops. Part of her work is to honour the individual and help them find their place in the collective. A goal she is aspiring too is one where she can contribute to the healing of relational spaces in the South African collective.
