Dr Laura Comrie studied Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBChB) at the University of Cape Town. Following her internship and community service in both KZN and Mpumpalanga, she then worked as a General Practitioner (GP) in Johannesburg. During her training and time as a GP, Dr Laura Comrie developed a keen interest in mental healthcare, driven mostly by the significant improvements she witnessed in patient well-being derived from proper treatment. It was at this time that she enrolled as a medical officer and then a registrar at Tara Hospital, Johannesburg. Dr Laura Comrie completed her post-graduate training in Psychiatry at the University of Cape Town where she graduated as a psychiatrist (FCPsych SA) in 2013. Following her studies, Dr Laura Comrie explored a variety of interests – spending time at the Maternal Mental Health Clinic at Groote Schuur Hospital, working on a Dementia research investigation as well as consulting at a Men’s Health Facility (Health4Men). She started her private practice in 2014.
