Longevity Content Partnership: Having a skincare routine that’s free from toxins is something most people know they need to have. This has been a hot topic for several years now. On top of that, more skincare brands are turning to clean beauty all the time. We couldn’t be happier about that.
But did you know the make-up products we layer on top of our toner, serum, and moisturizer are just as important?
If you wear foundation, blush, eye-shadow or lipstick for a big part of your day, you need to be mindful of what you’re adding to your make-up bag. This is because these products – like your skincare – sit on your skin for most of the day. As a result, if you have questionable chemicals or irritants in your products, your skin will absorb these throughout the day.
Unfortunately, there is very little in the way of legislation that prevents companies from adding potentially harmful ingredients to the products we layer on our skin. So, just because you bought a product at the pharmacy, doesn’t necessarily mean it’s going to be good for you.
Thankfully, you can incorporate clean beauty into your regime by being more careful about the products you opt for.
Before you buy a make-up product, check the ingredient label for the following harmful ingredients:
- Petrolatum
- Mineral oil & palm oil
- Parabens (methyl-, isobutyl-, propyl-, and others)
- Sulfates
- Phthalates (DBP, DEHP, DEP, and others)
- Formaldehyde
- Sodium Laurel Sulfate and Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLS and SLES)
- Synthetic fragrances
On top of toxic ingredients, many make-up brands sell products that contain nasties like silicones and micro plastics. These don’t only harm your skin, but also do immense damage to the environment when you wash it off. Micro plastics that are found in skincare products wash off and end up in the ocean. Not only do micro plastics harm plant and animal life in the wild, but they can also show up again in our drinking water.
Clean Beauty Is the Future
That said, we were over the moon to hear that Catrice launched a new range of care and make-up products, based on environmentally friendly formulas. Introducing CLEAN ID, all the products of which are free of parabens, silicones, micro plastics, mineral oil, pure palm oil, exotic and animal ingredients. Not only are these clean beauty make-up products good for your skin, but the packaging also consists of paper and recyclable materials. Besides that – as with all CATRICE products – the production of CLEAN ID cosmetics is free of animal testing. These are natural cosmetics without compromises – from the production to the packaging to the product.

This limited edition range – the idea behind which we hope they will continue – consists of the following clean beauty products:
1. Eye-shadow palette
How would you like to get your dream eyes on a product that’s natural, vegan and without animal testing? The CLEAN ID eye-shadow palette features four shades of rosé, terracotta, bronze and dark brown. It’s also pure and perfect for subtle everyday looks. In combination, the three shimmering nuances and a matt tone ensure intensive eye make-up. Practical: Thanks to the mini format, your new favorite shades are sure to fit into any handbag.
Beauty Tip
It is not easy to find the perfect eye-shadow shade to suit your eye color. But whether in everyday life or the evening – the colors of the CLEAN ID Eye-shadow Palette are flattering for blue, green and brown eyes. For a soft everyday look, simply apply “Sensibility” or “Self-Love” on the moveable part of the eyelid with a flat eye-shadow brush and blend well with a blender brush. To transform the look into evening make-up, darken the outer third with “Serenity” using a firmly bound brush and apply “Silence” to the eyelid with your finger.
2. Lip Balm
The new CLEAN ID Lip Balm contains 98 percent natural ingredients, including macadamia and coconut oil as well as shea and cocoa butter. These “natural beauties” make it wonderfully nourishing, moisturizing and revitalizing. The transparent texture practically melts on the lips – for an extra soft feeling and kissable lips. The paper packaging continues the sustainability aspect of the vegan CLEAN ID range.
Beauty Tip
A rich lip balm with nourishing oils is the best thing your lips can wear. If the lips feel dry, it is important not to try to moisten them over and over again with your tongue. This may briefly relieve the uncomfortable feeling of tightness, but it will worsen the condition of the skin in the long term. As soon as the saliva evaporates, additional moisture is extracted and the skin becomes even drier. It is better to apply a lip balm and let it absorb well, then the lips will soon feel nourished again.
3. Mineral Swirl Highlighter
Baked mineral powder for a sparkling appearance: The soft-touch formula with 96 percent natural ingredients perfectly fits into the Clean ID range. Available in two shades of sunny gold-bronze or delicate rosé.
Beauty Tip
When it comes to make-up, nothing beats a highlighter that brightens the complexion up within a few seconds. And here’s a simple trick to make it even more effective: Before applying the highlighter, spray the face evenly with fixing spray and gently pat it into the skin with a beauty sponge. While the skin is still slightly moist, apply the highlighter to the highest points of the face. This way, the highlighter provides even more radiance – for an incredible glow. It’s available in both silver rose and gold.
4. Mineral Bronzer SPF
Like the kiss of the sun on your skin, without the aging side effects: the talc-free bronzer with valuable minerals leaves behind a velvety soft finish and a sun-tanned summer complexion. It is the first CATRICE Bronzing Powder with a sun protection factor of 15.
Beauty Tip
Applied to the right areas of the face, Bronzer creates an enchanting “fresh from holiday” look. For a naturally fresh complexion, apply from the ear towards the tip of the nose and blend well. Also, apply on the forehead – directly at the hairline – as well as a slight touch above the bridge of the nose. These so-called “sun terraces” are the places where the sun hits the face first. A large, soft brush is best for blending the bronzer. Additional highlights can be placed on the forehead, nose, and chin. To complete the look, add a little blush on the cheeks – this conjures-up additional freshness. It’s available in both light and medium shades.
