Well Up Challenge – Meet the experts

shutterstock_161565593Our Well Up Challenge well under way and our candidates working towards the goals they have set for themselves. Only two weeks into the challenge, our group has already lost a total of 18.4kg and are feeling positive and dedicated to making even more progress over the next few months. While the candidates are all doing well, it is important to remember that any sustainable healthy lifestyle needs the guidance of people who specialise in healthy changes that lead to a healthy life in general. Our expert panel is working hand-in-hand with our candidates to make sure their decisions and actions are well-informed and sustainable over the next nine months.

Dr Tshidi Gule – medical doctor

Dr Gule joins the panel as the founder of the Medispace Wellness Institute in Rivonia, which serves a diverse group of South African communities. Her passion lies in empowering people to improve their quality of life, which is what she hopes to do with our candidates, guiding and educating them in their health choices.

Melissa Kelly – the nutrition expert

Melissa is a registered dietitian as well as the founder of the Scoop to Lose eating plan. She will be here to guide the candidates throughout their journey to a better life by looking at their eating habits and helping them to make the right choices.

Karina Reid – the behaviourist

Karina is a qualified and registered organisational psychologist and executive coach. She is currently completing a PhD in consulting psychology and will be there for the candidates when it comes to looking after their emotional wellbeing throughout the challenge.

Dr Jeff King – cardiologist

Dr King is based at Sunninghill Hospital. His extensive knowledge of weight, obesity and the chronic health conditions associated with weight will be put to good use when monitoring the health and improvements of our candidates.

Dr Ela Manga – the integrative medical practitioner

Dr Manga focuses strongly on the mind-body connection, conscious living and the holistic approach to health and wellbeing. She will able to help our candidates to find the balance between mind, body and soul.

Dorian Cabral – the fitness expert

Dorian is a director and partner of the Wellness in Motion Lifestyle Management Company. He has a passion for health, fitness and people and hopes to help our candidates find their love for a healthy, active lifestyle.

Samantha Parrish

Samantha has been working as the features writer for Longevity since February 2013 after she graduated from the University of Johannesburg. She studied journalism and this is where she developed a keen interest in the health and wellness arena in South Africa.

She has always had a passion for writing and finds it incredibly rewarding working in the health and wellness industry. Samantha believes that it is important to take an active stance with regards to your health and wellness in order to live a happier, healthier and longer life.
