Jillian Michaels is showing us how to be a mom of two with a ripped body. The Biggest Loser trainer is back, without being gentle or kind. Motherhood is making it easier for her to relate to women’s weight-loss troubles. This hardcore ‘fitness fundi’ reveals how you can stay lean and mean.
Jillian Michaels Is A Lean Machine. But What Is Her Trick To Shredding Weight?
According to sources like SELF, Jillian describes herself as someone who had always been a fat child at school. She states that she suffered from acne, wore braces, and even had a big nose. Interestingly, she went from the child who would eat lunch in the teacher’s classroom because she didn’t want to be in the schoolyard, to the child who could break two boards with her right foot. She points out that it’s these experiences that make us carry ourselves differently.
Jillian Michaels believes that there is no such thing as excuses. Instead, her mantra focuses on:
- Be tough on yourself.
- Doing the exercises that you hate, because they generally pay off.
- Pay attention to your diet.
She tells Health.com that “the only time I put on weight was with the kids.” Her trick to shredding weight is by sticking to real-life, simple tactics. She adds, “I’ve become the master of shortcuts! However, it’s still about eating less and moving more. But, there’s a way to do it, so you don’t feel miserable. This way, the weight stays off.” Often, we overdo the weight loss process. There are easier, shorter, and more efficient ways of reaching your goals. without straining yourself.
Here Are A Few Ways Jillian Shed’s Weight:
1. Be An 80/20 Eater
Jillian Michaels recommends making 80% of the food you eat, healthy. The other 20% of your daily calories should be fun. She says if you don’t do this, you’ll feel deprived—and more tempted to deviate from your eating plan.
2. Always Speak Positively
We often tell ourselves that we have to do something; or that we cannot do something. This negative talk makes you feel deprived and rebellious. Jillian says if you say, “I’m not going to have that!,“ it becomes a choice, which leaves you in control.
3. Stop Fad Dieting
We have all heard of them. People are talking about giving up fat and forgetting about carbohydrates. Some are even taking pills for weight loss. Jillian Michaels says none of these whims are manageable in the long term. Fad diets can cause huge problems with your metabolism, due to their inconsistent nature. In other words, you’re either starving yourself or removing entire food groups from your body. The slightest deviation makes you gain even more weight than before.
4. Mix-Up Your Workout
Mixing up your exercise routines is a great way to work out multiple muscles, because it includes your cardiovascular exercise whilst you strength-train. This not only saves time but burns more calories while you’re exercising. Sometimes shorter workouts with a higher intensity level are more effective than an hour in the gym.
5. Eat Citrus Everyday
According to this ‘fitness fundi,’ vitamin C prevents the body from producing cortisol. This hormone tells your body to store fat. Perhaps, you should try eating a few grapefruit slices with your breakfast.
6. Eat Lots Of Turkey
Eating lean protein helps you stay fuller for longer because it’s filled with amino acids which build lean muscles. If you do not enjoy turkey, then chicken and fish are also great options.
7. Treat Yourself To Dark Chocolate
Jillian Michaels says that dark chocolate contains a ton of antioxidants, which are beneficial to the body. This makes it okay to call it a healthy treat. However, any treat should be eaten in moderation.
8. Stand-Up More!
Standing up helps burn 1.5 times more calories than sitting. Whether you’re watching TV, working on the laptop, or at the doctor-try standing.
9. Clear Out Your Pantry
A fast-paced life is difficult to eat consciously, especially when it comes to healthily snacking. However, there is a way to prevent ourselves from snacking on junk food. Jillian recommends throwing away anything that contains trans fats, artificial sweeteners, and high-fructose corn syrup.
The biggest mistake people make in fitness is having a lack of education. If taking part in the latest diet craze is your call to action, then think again. These fad diets won’t provide you with the best results in the long term. Instead, you need to focus on learning about lasting programs that will show you consistent results. If Jillian, a mother of two and fitness trainer, can do it then so can you!
These are great suggestions but you’d be hard pressed to find a few people in a 1000 that would implement all of them.
When I see what other people are buying at Costco, especially people with young children, I have to shake my head. Their carts are overflowing with convenience foods filled with salt, sugar, and white flour.
Unfortunately, the easy road is also the shortest in regards to lifespan. I know that, if it’s in my cupboard, it’s going to get eaten in a weak moment. :^)
